The Foundation is a resource where children and their families who face challenges can receive the support of our many skilled professionals.
At Footprints we have access to great people in the area who volunteer their time or significantly discount their rates for us. We work with medical benefit coordinators, accountants, lawyers, therapists, doctors, dentists and others to help your family. Through our leadership, we can help you to push through your pain or isolationism and participate in the things you used to do prior to your tragedy.
We offer five program options for our families to consider when applying for a grant with us. Please read through each and select the one that bests fits your needs. Once you have made your selection please fill out our grant application, indicating which program you are applying for and send it back to us at the address indicated. Our five program options are:
Financial Proficiency and Preparedness Program Counseling and Support Liaison Program Yes We Can Program
This program is designed to help educate families about the depths that the affects of an illness or tragedy can cause financially. Our intent is to analyze your situation and with you implement the best plan of action to try and relieve the burden of the diagnosis and its mounting medical bills.
How do I financially cope with the diagnosis of an illness for my future?
During your scheduled appointment with the Board, we will review your case with you and determine the best course of action. The educated and skilled Board at Footprints will then refer you to an appropriate professional that is best suited for your situation. Some professionals we have dealt with in the past include: accountants, trust and estate lawyers, medical consultants, financial planners, etc. Issues they have helped us to deal with include (but are not limited to): preparing living wills, health care proxies, educational funding, life insurance, etc.
How do I handle the mounting medical bills?
If your application indicates you will need a review of your medical benefit coverage we will arrange for a medical benefit consultant to join us in the review of your situation. The consultant will evaluate your current plan and make the appropriate recommendations as necessary. The consultant will help you make informed choices about insurance products and services.

If we cannot offer you the help you need, this program provides you with a direct connection(s) to other foundations that may be better suited to assist you.
How can we help?
The Footprints in the Sand Foundation will initially act as the connection to the other programs/foundations that may better serve your needs. Footprints’ administrative staff and Board of Directors have been fortunate enough to establish relationships with various programs, other non-profit foundations, and other sources of the like. In doing so, we are more than happy to be the liaison between you and your family and another organization that can best fulfill your need(s).

Counseling services for the individual child, and group counseling for children and their families affected by an illness or tragedy.
How do I qualify?
Counseling is offered to those who do not have insurance or if you are not fully covered. If you do not have a counselor you are currently working with, we will refer you to one of our recommended, licensed counselors. We look at each case to determine how your needs will be best served.
Issues and Concerns Include:
Feelings that have surfaced after a family member has been affected by an illness or tragedy. Implications within the family related to the illness or tragedy; difficulty coping, life changing event, depression, aggression and more.
- All counselors are licensed consultants and are not paid employees of the Foundation.

The "Yes We Can" program is a Footprints established dream-granting initiative. It is intended to provide a memorable family "experience."
Who is Eligible?
A family member affected by a recent illness or tragedy.
How Does it Work?
After the Foundation has received your grant application, you will be contacted by the Board for your formal interview. During the interview, please be prepared to share your “dream” and how Footprints can best help you attain it. Please be aware, a family cannot have received a grant from another “dream-granting” organization within the past year.
The “dreams” we are most inclined to fulfill, will fall under one of the following categories:
- One day I dreamt I went to...Where would I like to visit?
- One day I dreamt I had a...What gift would I like to receive?
- If you feel as though your request does not fit into one of these categories, please feel free to tell us anyway and let us see what we can do.
- PLEASE NOTE: Should we need to contact your doctor(s), you may be asked to sign a medical release form at the time of the interview.
